CM Stacker 832 or ?

Hi,

I am finally getting around to build myself a new gaming rig after 3+ years of using an AGP Graphics Card and an old ATA133 HD (LOL?). My pc is quite slow and its time to switch to both PCI-E, SATA and possibly SLI!

Anyways, I need to find the ultimate gaming case. I plan to OC of course nothing too crazy just enough where it will still run stable and I won't have to worry. So with that said I am looking at doing a hybrid type solution. I'd like to get the coolit freezone on my quad core. Of course I heard it doesnt work well so I might wait for the new revision to come out. I'm also looking at the quad-sli freezone cpu cooler. I hope there is enough room for both in the same chassis. On top of that I plan on using fan's inside the case and heatsinks on the video card memory.

Any suggestions for the type of case I should buy? One other question. On the CM description it says: "CM Stacker 832, the newer and improved Stacker series not only is equipped with the highly praised features from its predecessor, but also incorporates the support for the new Raptor X technology."

What does that mean? I plan to purchase the Raptor.

The two cases I am currently interested in is the CM Stacker 832 and the Thermaltake Armor Series VA8000BWS Black Aluminum. I am definitely open for suggestions.

I'm not positive but the Raptor thing they mention is just a bracket with LED's for the Raptor X. You mount it on the top instead of a 120mm blowhole.

IMO the Stackers the way to go, such a beautiful case.

It's better to have the 120mm fan as a top exhaust then to stick a drive there instead anyways. It may look cool with the drive, but not only are you decreasing the case airflow, you're also depriving the drive of airflow since you're removing it from an area with airflow(drive bays) to an area without much airflow(blocked fan port with no moving air).

The case itself is awesome, I'm just saying you shouldn't stick a drive up there if you get it. You should also look at the Stacker 830, which is pretty much the same case with a different door. Either way, I definitely place the Stackers above the Armor.

830 evo is cheaper than the 832 which comes with less accesories.
I ordered both cases and they should arrive tomorrow.

I ordered the 832 today. Let me know your thoughts on the 830. I will be using the coolit system on both my quad sli's and my quad core.

832 just arrived.
It is not 40lbs like they advertise! It's only 21 lbs!
The box is so light I was able to handle with a broken foot

$249 is not bad but $20 shippings kills the deal.
NCIX is selling one for around $250 shipped to USA.

Yah I ordered a few other things so that way it offsets the 20.00.

What motherboard and power supply are you putting in the case? I haven't decided yet.

I am using an OCZ powerstream atm.
I ordered a PC P&C 750 quad psu directly from PC P&C and it seems someone took my package that was left at the front door.
I sent email to cassie@PC P&C to resolve this matter and ordered a pc p&c 1kw-sr from another store in mean time.
I think of using pc p&c 750 for my 24/7 rig and 1kw for my other.
The case can handle any psu of any size.
I will build my 24/7 rig in a couple of hours and post a pic here.
I am pretty tired using a test deck.

i have the stacker830 black the best case imho... very sturdy.. weight alot empty!!! total pounds with the box around almost 40?!?! i have 3 120mm fans at the side.. two in the front.. one at the rear.. it can hold my enermax galaxy 1,000watt psu.. all i had to do was bend some metal bracket at the top of the case.. i dont have the top 120mm fan.. since my psu has a 140mm fan on it anway.... very cool case... and easy to install junk in it.... and the tuniq tower 120 fits in this case.. you just need to remove one fan from the side...

ahh i see.... you wont be dissapointed with the wait... we are in the same time zone.. im on guam.. thats why i needed the tuniq tower... hot over here... 88 degrees *F daily.....

I know wot u mean.....its currently 28 C here at 11.30 pm at night, cant stand this fucking heat. I think I need to move somewhere cold.

yeah i sometimes think that as well... i read reviews saying the cooler kept their cpu cool idle at 43 degress OC'd and i am thinking no way!! then i remember my room temp is around 31*C ! lol...

I have a stacker they are awesome, but they are just huge air cleaners with all the fans running.

Great Case, cuz it is like the universe inside there. You just don't have to worry abt room. Get one if you don't want to worry abt room in your case.

it a great case, but for it size the inside isn't really that big. my old aspire super alien x was much more roomy despite being a much smaller case.it looks big on the outside but the inside isn't really that roomy.

this case + a 1k psu is a nightmare to cable manage because there really isn't any little hidden areas to hide any wires.
i also had fit issues with my pci cards and had to get a revised mobo tray sent to me. i also had to cut my psu mounting bracket to allow it to seat in right.


go for the 832, alot of minor issues such as mine have since been fixed with it.

it's a great case with minor annoyances. iam happy with mine. after finally getting everything to fit right.
