Hey guys,

I just purchased a new case today, a Cooler Master 690 II Advanced, and looking for some tips from others who own this case.

I'm been searching a few other sites and looked at others set ups, I'm wondering if anyone can help me out on the ideal set up for air flow in this case.

I have a CM V8 CPU Cooler and have seen that people mount the cpu cooler in two different ways;

First Set-up - Standard mounting, pull/push sucks fresh cool air from the from of case and blows the hot air to the rear to the rear cooling fan

Second Set-up - CPU cooler mounted sideways, sucking air from the bottom and pushing the hot air up toward the 2 120/140mm fan on the top of the case.

Which would be a better set up? or if anyone can share their fan configuration with me would be great. How many fans should I throw in this and what fans work good also

I have a AMB pII 955 oc'd ~3.9ghz, CM v8, 8 gigs of low profile corsair value ram, ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3, ATI 6870, WD 150g VR, WD caviar blue 320, and Corsair 620hx ps.

Pictures of your CM 690's would be great too.

More information than you will need about this Case It covers the previous generation of the CM 690. This case is awesome for the price. I was in the market for a Corsair 650D, HAF X or a Raven 2-E. The CM 690 II advanced is less than half the price, cooling is great as welle as cable managment. The sata dock is a plus too.
 
Standard configuration sounds the best to me, because that way you aren't pulling warm air from the hard drives (if you have several) and possibly graphics card depending on where it dumps its air. However, the reality is that you aren't really going to see massive temp differences, if your setup is relatively normal.
 
Thank you for the link on this case Blurp. I will just stick to the normal/stock fan set up and air flow patterns.

I think I will be changing out all the 120mm fans to Scythe gentle Typhoons. I've heard alot of good things about these fans.

My case comes in today and I cannot wait to transfer all my stuff into it. i'm looking forward to utilizing the cable management system and having a clean looking case. If all goes well with the cabling, I may look into getting the windowed side panel.
