Cleaning old processors

I came across some old Pentium III processors I had, and was wondering what I could use to clean the compound off of them. These were OEM pulls from HP workstations, so it isn't normal thermal grease that comes off with rubbing alcohol. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what might work?

I have used "Goof Off" on, literally, a thousand CPUs with no ill effects and it works great on vintage TIM like that.

If unfamiliar with the product, it's base is acetone and xylene so pure acetone may work well too (aka nail polish remover)

either of those ^^ after using a spudger to remove the stuff around the edges.

If you have to, fill a bowl with ipa and soak them. It will soften. Isopropyl alcohol, not beer.
