cleaning lcd's

whats the best way to go about cleaning lcd's and laptop's? i've heard not to use normal cleaners as they can eat away at the screen. also that some cleaners will work with some but not with others. the only thing i've heard to be safe to all is a damp lint free cloth.
 
Get a micro fiber cloth and that should do wonders!

Or just buy lcd cleaner stuff from newegg or something...
