Hey,

Just looking for some clarification... The Cisco uplink ports on these switches could they be used to connect to a server and not uplink to another switch/router?

In my lab I am using Mellanox Dual Port ConnectX-2 cards - 1 port using IB for storage and the other i'm looking to use with 10G to a switch... I found Mellanox MC2309130-001 which is a QSFP to SPF+ Hybrid cable which would go into a CVR-X2-SFP10G plugged into the Cisco switch.

Would the above work?

Thanks in advance!

Sure can, they are treated just like any other ports, at least on my catalysts I have here. Make sure they are configured as access ports, and you should be good to go.

Catalyst 2960-S. Not quite in the same league, but same concepts. I can't say whether the setup you are trying to do will work for sure as I'm not familiar with the additional hardware and the hybrid cable I've never worked with. But as far as your first question goes, you should be good to go.
