Hi guys

I am looking for cheap adapters to be able to use passthru using VMDirectPath on VMware ESXi 4.1 U1

Any advice? 1068e controllers seem to be in the $100+ range this is for my home test box. Thanks

I bought some IBM M1015s for $75 each from someone in the FS section. I believe they should pass through fine since they are LSI 2008 cards, though I can't vouch for that until I am done building my system.

*Actually, it was from TypeRazor. I haven't gotten them yet, but according to the thread he has sold a few dozen and I didn't see any complaints.

The IBM1015, re-flashed with LSI 9240-8i software, passes through on VMDirectPath on ESXi 4.1 just fine. They are widely available for $60-100 on fleabay and elsewhere. As always with grey-market parts, YMMV.

Why would you need to reflash an IBM hardware with an LSI firmware?

The M1015 is nothing more than an oem of the 9240-8i. Solaris and its derivatives will work with the LSI firmware but is unknown with the IBM version. Also, most of this grey market b-stick is delivered with old firmware and needs to be updated anyway.

Hi guys

Will the LSI SAS3041E-HP work for VMdirectpath also? Theres one I can pickup for $60 ;)
