hi all,

I saw an article a month or two back about a Network access storage device that was cheap and could be loaded with 4 HDDs of your choosing... anyone know of anything like this?

Reason I ask is because I'm already a media whore with about 1.8TB of shit in my desktop... thing is im on the road 5 or 6 days out of the week and would be VERY interested in something the size of a toaster or something that i could pop a few 500GB drives in and have a "mobile" network access storage device to pair with my Dell XPS2

Any help is appreciated
Jeff

i love what i see from buffalo tech.... however do you think there is any way to just buy the system itself (with NO hard drives) what i really want to do is buy the barebones housing/controller and pop in 4X 500GB drives

I looked into that myself, but when you consider what you can buy their products for including the built in pre-configured OS plus the hard drives it’s actually cheaper to buy a whole package.

Do some shopping, most of their products are quite reasonable on a lot of sites and you can’t beat pre-configured and ready to run.

Luck

now im curious... if i go the cheap route and buy a Terrabyte thing... say with just two drives, can i rip into it, and replace the two drives that are in there with 4X500GB drives?
