Cheap memory vs expensive memory?

Take a gander at the system in my sig...

The RAM is 1X512MB Kingston ValueRAM. It is pretty cheap stuff. Here is my question... Since I am at the max that I want to overclock my CPU, would better RAM (mushkin Level 1, or something) make much of a preformance increase over what I have now?

Very little if any performance boost. A lot of Kingston Value memory already carry high perf chips on them i just forget exactly what to look for. People are even getting good oc's with the Value series.

Just lower the timings on your current ram to Cas2-2-3-11 or Cas2-3-3-11 or 2.5-3-3-11. The last '11' timing seems to work best on most nforce2 mobo's (as opposed to '5' or '6')

Alternatively you can get the exact same Kingston stick when its on sale at BB or Officemax etc. Might want to write down the information etched onto your memory stick so you get an exact match.

Just buy ram that supports the fsb you overclocking to

If you're not going to overclock it, what you mentioned will probably work fine as long as it supports the fsb as Oldmx suggested.

The only thing that better ram may help you on, is the ability to decrease your timings.

ADDING RAM will probably increase your performance, but replacing the RAM is probably not going to do anything for you since it apparently overclocks to the levels that you are comfortable with.

my kingston value ram is good, can do 333fsb from a 266 fsb rated chip, and I'm sure it could do more, but 333 is the highest my pos via mobo will do. And that's jsut the ram fsb, the cpu fsb wont get CLOSE to that.
