Changing Fsb Problems

My friend changed his Fsb to Max (stupid) on his AMd 2500 barton on the Asus A7N8X. Everytime we tried starting up the computer it would shut down in like 4 seconds. We cannot post or do anything. So far we have taken everything apart to bare and checked his processor for problems but there are no apparent damage. We tried reseting the CMOS but still the same results any suggestions?
 
On my ASUS I turn the power off at the PSU and hit Delete and it brings up BIOS after a failed O/C. I'm assuming you've done that thoough since you said you pulled the CPU...
 
it will not stay on it shuts down before it reaches bios. Doesnt the CMOS retain the info of the bios and by resetting it everything should be normal unless he damaged his processor which i dont believe he did. ANy ideas? I have a Asus board too and the problem is far beyond just resetting bios settings since the computer wont even startup for longer than 4 seconds
 
ok, this might be a little on the high side, BUT here's what i would do... take apart whole computer( by this i mean, take of HSF, take out CPU, unplug PSU from power, and take out Cmos battery) and leave it all out overnight or for atleast 15 minutes...then put it all back in CAREFULLY...i have had some wierd problems and thsi some times helps..
 
Start the computer without the CMOS battery, then after it fails, put it back in. That always works for my buddies when they b0rk their computer.
