changin voltages

some initial thoughts just from looking at it is that it would be hard to do. You want a 3 way switch on it? It seems very prefabricated and the way it works is that it's using the 12V - 5V = 7 volts.. so it's not variable really just a simple way to get 7V from a 5V and 12V ground. You could run a resistor in line with the switch to knock it down from 7V to 5 V. However this would also not make it a full 12V unless you desoldered a switch and wired it only on the 7V side.

The way that thing is made I dunno if you can even desolder those switches(You would have to get that top board off and from the pictures I can't see how) but if you could somehow you could run your own 5V from the psu over to it (and make the switch 12 V / 5V probably. Or maybe somehow get a 3 -way switch. I dunno it's definately going to be difficult I think.

So you wanted a 3-way switch right? Also I'm not sure if the difference for only one fan being 7/5 volts is worth all the trouble and I forget the limit to when the fan won't properly operate but it should operate at 5V I think.

ya ive seen that zalman one and its the ugliest thing ive ever seen but anyway ya i wanted a 3 way switch to switch from 12v to 5v to off

ya ive seen that before but the thing is ive already ordered this from frozencpu.com and its on its way

if you want an off switch just buy a single pull single throw switch, cut the yellow wire on your power cable you are using, and reattach it through the wires connecting to the switch. Drill a hole into the bay cover on top of it for the switch. Most fan controllers that have LED's run the LED's off the 5v line so the LED's will still be on, but the power to the fans off.

if you need that bay and another one as you specified, just get that and mod the second one into the floppy bay or something... i dont see why you need specifically 12v/7/5... why not just mark a dot on the bay and turn it to whichever spot that is the wanted voltage
