Center channel, not working?

Hey, I just got my Logitech X-530's which is hooked up to my Creative Live! 5.1. The center channel is never on/working except when I run the channel test (says "right channel" from right channel speaker, ect..) I doubt this is a problem with the actual speaker, but i'm still not sure why its never being used. Does my audio actually have to be 5.1? I thought there was 5.1 emulation or something.. software setting??

any help appreciated
 
I Believe the Center Channel works in supporting things such as Movies that are in 5.1, Games, 5.1. Im in the same boat I have the Klipsch 5.1 Ultra's. Center Channel only works in MOvies and Games.. So no worrys! ;)
