CD/DVD-ROM problems

I've got a pioneer DVD drive and a lite-on CDRW drive that have worked wonderfully for the past 2 years or so, until now. They have stopped recognizing CDs. If I put a CD into my DVD drive a window pops up saying it is not in a format windows can read if I click on the drive to view the contents; if it goes into the CDRW drive nothing happens at all when I click on it. Device Manager shows they are working properly with no conflicts, I have made no changes to the drivers or anything like that recently. The weirdest part is that if I leave a CD in one of the drives and restart the computer, it will show up as being in there and works perfectly when windows starts. But if I hit eject and put it back in it dissapears and has the problems as mentioned above. Please help, this is getting annoying.

sounds like a problem with windows, not with the hardware. use ur hardware device manager in the control panel to make sure your drivers are working correctly.

I noted that Device Manager shows everything is working fine and does not have conflicts. I've done all that I know of to fix it including a system restore and nothing has been able to remedy the situation. I'm open to any suggestions, please let me know.
