cCenter, where to install?

Is there a benefit to running vcenter on a dedicated system over running it in a vm? The reason I ask is because I have a amd e350 system (in sig) that I'm not using.

And if I do use a dedicated system would there a a reason to use a ssd in that system over a hdd?
 
I cant think of a reason I would ever put vCenter on a physical server. Most people are going to virutalization for the benefits, why wouldn't you want those same benefits for vCenter?
 
If it's worth anything, VMware recommends installing it in a virtual machine and if you haven't happened to notice, the vCenter Server Appliance is the wave of the future. I'd say within a few more releases, VMware will be moving away from a Windows based vCenter server.

That, on top of the fact that you have HA by installing it on an ESXi cluster vs. a physical machine among other things...

So no, I wouldn't install it on a separate machine unless you're really starving for resources on your ESXi hosts
