CCC works fine for overclocking and you can manually control the fan also (via editing an xml file).
Are we talking about a fan curve that reacts to Temp or just a single set fan speed. Its the one thing I really liked about Riva Tuner was building a fan curve. I havent ran ATI in a while and I remember lots of complaints about CCC. I assume its doing better?

CCC works fine for overclocking, the fan is set for auto by default but it appears to not go much over 15% which is too low. Manually setting the fan will lock in one speed which is not ideal. I expect that the next driver and/or BIOS will correct the fan speeds and also have it drop the core speed lower than 500 Mhz when idle. Really not a big deal as you can set the fan around 40-50% and probably not hear it and have a significant improvement.
How do you edit the fan speed????
My 4870s are way too hot.
Honestly I'm waiting for RivaTuner......I use it alot.
