I'm running WinXP Pro SP2, and have a Ati Radeon 1950XT PCiE vid card. I wanted to try out the 8.3 Catalyst drivers. So, I un-installed all the old Ati stuff, rebooted, and tried to install the new drivers. However, I got the error message : Setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system. Setup will now exit. So, I then ran Driver Cleaner, and it got rid of all remaining traces of the old ati drivers. Yet still, I get the same dang error. I then tried the Omega drivers, and those won't work either. I cleaned everything again, and tried the old 7.11 drivers, and those won't work either. What's going on here?! My vid card is useless now! Any ideas as to why NONE of the drivers will install now?

Are you sure you're downloading the correct version for your operating system? Example, Windows XP x64 is different driver version than Windows XP 32bit.

Yes. The first time I got that message, I went back to the drivers page, and made sure that I selected the proper OS.

I think you need to look in the HD 3850 AGP User Experience thread, and look for the message that tells how to install the drivers manually. Other people in that thread had the same problem as you.

I checked out that thread, and found instructions on how to "force install" the drivers, and they work now! YESSSS! Thank you!

Great! :) Even though that was for AGP, I thought it would work for you, but wasn't sure. I'm glad it did :)
