This release of Catalyst™ introduces software CrossFire™ support for the ATI Radeon™ HD 2600 Series and ATI Radeon™ HD 2400 Series. Software CrossFire™ is only available when two graphics accelerators from the same family (i.e. 2 ATI Radeon™ HD 2600 products) are plugged into a CrossFire™ compatible motherboard with no hardware interconnect between the two graphics accelerators.
Performance Improvements

The following performance improvements are noticed with Catalyst™ 7.10:

* Battlefield 2142: CrossFire™ performance improves 5-23% on ATI Radeon™ HD2600, HD2400 and ATI Radeon™ X1300/X1550
* BioShock DX10 CrossFire™ performance improves 70% or more on all ATI Radeon™ HD2x00 series of products
* Call of Duty 2: performance improves up to 6.7% on both single card and CrossFire™ ATI Radeon™ HD2600 and ATI Radeon™ HD2400 configurations
* Call of Juarez DX10: CrossFire™ performance improves up to 42% and single card performance improves up to 34% on all ATI Radeon™ HD2x00 series of products
* Company of Heroes DX10 CrossFire™ performance improves up to 80% on all ATI Radeon™ HD2x00 series of products and single card performance improves as much as 31% on ATI Radeon™ HD2900 and ATI Radeon™ HD2600 products
* Enemy Territory: Quake Wars CrossFire™ performance improves as much as 23% on ATI Radeon™ X1x00 series products and single card performance improves as much as 23% on both ATI Radeon™ HD2x00 and ATI Radeon™ X1x00 series of products

Huh the installed is slightly different the it use to be, ie. colour is orange.
I'm just about to test the driver on my 2900PRO flashed as 2900XT.

Yeah, they came out about 3:20 PM EST. Put it in the benchmark thread. You're right though, I should have made a new thread. You're driver links aren't working for me for some reason, here's the main page link ......

I remember there was a habit of having Official Catalyst topic on hardforum. It was missing so I've created it.

ps. I've done few tests with 4AA/16AF on my spec.
Bioshock and Colin: Dirt are working fine, dunno how many fps but they're fluent.
Playing Crysis with and without AA/AF and all graphic settings to high is very choppy. I guess it's time to sell my 3 h old card and go for 8800 gtx.

Working on Bioshock - Fort Frolic Level myself, 1680x1050, 4AA/8AF and same as you nice and smooth. FPS don't really matter to me either as long as it appears fluid much like you. Their working great so far for me as well and I may be getting a few more FPS than with 7.9. Tested it with FRAPS before and after.

Is that not somehow the same thing as this, introduced in Catalyst 5.11?

I'm confused?
 
Got these drivers yesterday... I defiantly notice an improvement in Quake Wars with my X1950GT
 
This may have been resolved with one of the earlier drivers (I've been using 7.6 until now), but I'm happy to say that Overdrive finally works properly again on my 1950Pro. No more flickering screen.
 
I had sometimes similar issues. They way I've managed to get working new drivers is:

1. Remove CCC and all ati components using normal uninstaller from control panel. Reboot pc.
2. Use driver cleaner 1.5 pro, add all ati names from list.
3. run services.msc and see if there's any ATI service still running ( it will on Vista ).
4. Remove the service using tool called Hijackit, reboot.
5. Install new drivers and try them.

Trying to open CCC, the the screen start to flicker on off on off for 30 seconds and nothing happens. Trying to open CCC again and I get two ATI tray icons that shortly after vanish. The CCC process hit 50% and that's it, no CCC appilication showing up.

Removed the drivers completely, rebooted a few times, installed them again. Identical issue as above again.

Finally back running on 7.6 again as that seems to be the last time ATI produced a functional driver for x1900 crossfire setups.

If ATI can't get their drivers in order again I highly doubt they will be used in my next system.

FWIW, I know it became 'payware' but the latest Driver Cleaner .NET (3.2.x, IIRC), really does a much better job cleaning up things than the earlier releases. A wider variety, and it does a better job removing services and cleaning all the .NET muck out.

For the number of different things on my system that just don't have properly tested driver removal routines (and, for my money, both Creative Labs and nVidia are worse than ATI in this regard - but all are definitely BAD), it was worth the $10 or so it costs. It just saves SO MANY headaches, there are no words.
 
Any AGP users find the 7.10 drivers successful? I know many of us had black screen problems on startup with the 7.9 drivers.

Drivers are fine with AGP compared to 7.9's which were horrible. 7.10 cured alot of problems i have a x800 series card.

Fresh install of XP with a Diamond HD 2600XT.
First it gave a 'Needs .NET 2.0' error. I installed redistrib 2.0 and 3.0.
Now getting that error. Lame. I just got this card and cant access the catalyst center cause of this.

If it helps any, I went to the driver that had the previous version of CCC, (which ends up being 7.7...) and that version of CCC works.

Perhaps you can try installing just the graphics driver and not the new CCC. I'm not sure if that would cause any compatibilities. I would try myself, but I'm sick of messing with this new box and have already requested RMA for the card.

Gonna replace it with a X1950 Pro. (Not because of this issue...)

I guess the 7.10 CCC is broken. Looks like a few people are having problems just opening it. (Like me.)
