Catalyst 11.8 Released

It's not strictly 11.8 causing the problem if I can start DiRT3 and get a centered HUD with 11.8...

Try setting your desktop resolution to something that IS NOT bezel corrected before starting DiRT3, see if that helps. 5040x1050 or 5760x1200 should work. Keep the Steam overlay disabled.

Don't know what to say. I reverted to 11.7 and it centered first try. That's pretty damning before and after. Could be multiple factors on my machine causing the error but sure as hell glad it's fixed.

And I can repeatably center the HUD by disabling the Steam overlay, and un-center the HUD by enabling the Steam overlay, all while using 11.8

Just as damning? No, it's quite possible that DiRT 3 is just REALLY picky, and it's some other software is causing it for you (since it IS possible to get a centered HUD while running 11.8). RadeonPro, MSI Afterburner, and FRAPS will also screw with DiRT 3's ability to detect your resolution and center the HUD (anything that draws an overlay seems to throw it off, really).

I have noticed that in some newer games (Deus Ex comes to mind) - eyefinity groups are being detected differently than just having an ultra wide resolution. It may be that you need to recreate your eyefinity group with 11.8 to achieve proper detection.

I have a problem of my computer hanging while installing 11.8. How far is everyone going in the prior driver deletion? from 11.7 to 11.8 beta, i just installed it straight and it worked great, but this time, even if i manually delete the CCC install utility and the drivers, it still hangs. During its whole turning the screens on and off and going crazy(always does this), it just stops at blank screens. It doesn't respond to anything and it sounds like my hard drives are thinking every once in a while. Anyone have any idea?

EDIT: well shoot, I tried it just now, uninstalled the install utility, the drivers, the cards, and .net framework. Worked without the craziness it always does...NVM. lol

We are looking into this claim, so far we haven't the same luck with the Preview driver, perhaps 11.8 WHQL will be different.

Anything new to report? I have a Sapphire Toxic 6950 on the way and wondering what the best driver version to install at this point is. I'm switching from nVidia to ATI for the first time in years so I want to install the most stable version to test out my new card, then maybe update drivers for performance.

I noticed quite a few issues with 11.8 from flickering in BFBC2 to x00000124 BSOD with 11.8 installed. 11.7 work fine with most games and I don't see any reason to use 11.8 until the BSOD issues are resolved. Using the AMD forums is just useless too no response from anyone at AMD on these issues.

This is all in Xfire for me (2-6970's). I have tested COD:BLOPS, BFBC2, Dead Island (using the RaedonPro with COJ exe forced), L4D2 and a few others. The flickering in BFBC2 is to bad for me to personally use them.

Anyone else experiencing this?

AMD don't monitor their own forum. You will never get any response from official AMD staff in there. There are only a very small handful of unofficial people like GreenGecko that try to help people out. The vast majority of them are trolls though. You need at least six 1000W PSUs to run any system, otherwise they will not help you.

BSOD codes
0x101 = increase vcore
0x124 = increase/decrease QPI/VTT first, if not increase/decrease vcore... H67/P67 increase/decrease Vcore first then qpi/vtt second.
on i7 45nm, usually means too little VVT/QPI for the speed of Uncore
on i7 32nm SB, usually means too little vCore
0x0A = unstable RAM/IMC, increase QPI first, if that doesn't work increase vcore
0x1E = increase vcore
0x3B = increase vcore
0x3D = increase vcore
0xD1 = QPI/VTT, increase/decrease as necessary, can also be unstable Ram, raise Ram voltage
0x9C = QPI/VTT most likely, but increasing vcore has helped in some instances
0x50 = RAM timings/Frequency or uncore multi unstable, increase RAM voltage or adjust QPI/VTT, or lower uncore if you're higher than 2x
0x109 = Not enough or too Much memory voltage
0x116 = Low IOH (NB) voltage, GPU issue (most common when running multi-GPU/overclocking GPU)
0x7E = Corrupted OS file, possibly from overclocking. Run sfc /scannow and chkdsk /r
