case fans problem

I come home after my classes and none of my casefans are on, so I say WTF? When i left the house everything was running fine, and now i come back home and none of the case fans are on, CPU fan is on, OTES fan is on, I tried resetting the CMOS and the case fans still dont work, any ideas?

I used zip ties to clean up wires in the case, could too tight zip ties around the wires be the problem?

Recheck all power connectors and plug them out then in again, it happened to me once turns out one was just loose.

i did that, still case fans dont work, can i use any other connectors besides the 2 fan ones that dont work?

I have antec true480 powersupply, I want to connect the case fans to the regular 4-pin peripheral connectors and not the fan only ones(ones that dont work), now my question is are they black colored or white colored?

maybe the fan headers on the mobo got screwed... you shouldn't have any problems connecting fans directly to the PSU...

That was my first thought also. Anyone who plugs case fans into a mobo header deserves to have it screw up the mobo.

It's a bad idea to plug fans into the 3-pins on the mobo? (I have 3x80mm fans running off one 3-pin mobo header) is that bad? might be the source of my problem (not to thread jack)

All of my case fans go directly to the PSU. I dont like having everything run off of my mobo. I think it might be just a little safer.:)

Wow...im surprised your motherboard hasnt killed itsself yet. If i was the motherboard, id just kill myself. Even 2 fans is way to much. Those motherboard 3 pins dont have alot of juice going to them.

you guys got it all wrong, i have my 4 fans going in directly into the PSU, and yesterday morning when I left the house the fans were working properly just like any other day, when i came back from my calc class the fans were not working. No one touched the PC while i was gone, so what the hell is wrong? why are my fans not working? I have the fans plugged directly into the PSU, and u guys are talking about the MOBO? what the hell does the mobo have to do with my fans?

includes two "fan only" connectors. What this does to any fans connected to the "fan only" connectors is make them temp controlled. They will spin slower in idle or normal net surfing, but once the system temp gets higher the fans spin faster. Once again Antec is thinking of "Quiet". Usually when system temps get higher we are doing something noisy anyway like playing games so any fan sound will not bother us.

The "fan only" connectors are meant for standard fans only, and not temp controlled fans. From Antec:

"The TruePower Fan Only connectors are designed to power standard fans only. Attaching thermally-controlled fans to these connectors will likely result in unpredictable and undesired behavior. Thermally-controlled fans should only be connected to the standard 4-pin Peripheral Power Connectors."

"Please do not connect more than three external fans to the Fan Only connectors in any combination. For maximum cooling you may choose to connect the case fans to the regular 4-pin peripheral connectors, but in this fashion noise will not be reduced."

Like it says on the box, "The New Standard in Silence.."

"Antec Low Noise Technology substantially reduces overall system noise. Using an advanced temperature response system the power supply fans run at the lowest speed appropriate to load and conditions. This system achieves optimum balance between necessary cooling and noise reduction. Dedicated Fan Only connectors allow TruePower power supplies to control and monitor the speed of up to three case fans. The connected case fans will then operate at lower speeds until more cooling is needed."

What color are they? i have white and black 4-pin peripheral connectors running from my PSU, so which ones do i use for my fans?
