All right I just finished planning a case in google sketchup. The case is going to be made out of wood and it would have plexi-glass windows on each side except the back. Anyway the case is going to have 2 hardrives I can add more if I want to, 2 cd/dvd drives, a floppy drive, amd athlon 3000+ Venice core @ 2.5 mhz, ati 9600xt all in wonder, a gig of ram, and 8 120mm fans (a lot of fans huh?)There are 8 fans but you cant see them all because one is under the motherboard. I haven’t started to build the case as of yet I just wanted you guys opinions first. And I have a couple of questions:
• Do you think how I positioned the fans would allow the case to have good airflow?
• What else should I add to make my case be different?
• Do you think I should take out some fans?
• If so which ones?
• Do you like my design?

O i almost forgot to add the two fans on the sides are exhaust fans, the two fans in the front push air in, the two fans on the top push air in, and the fan under the motherboard pushes air around, and the fan down the bottom is an exhaust fan. I know that some of the fans are facing the wrong ways.

And one more thing i have 8 fans in my case and i know that no fan speed controller can handle 8 fans so is it a way to wire two or more fans together so they can be hooked up to one fan speed controller input??

Interesting concept.

I don't think you are going to need 8 fans. But if you want em go for it.
I might change the airflow patterna bit though

Front either one or two fans as intake.
Rear same either one or two as exhaust
You could make one side a intake, and maybe a top exhaust
 
yeah that sounds good i could make the top two fans exhaust fans because heat rises so that would be ideal and i could make the side fans exhaust and the front intake and the bottom one on the back exhaust that way i would be getting alot of heat out. Sounds good?
 
i dunno if you can but your intake should be a low as you can, and the exhuast should be higher up.

i'm not sure if you can move them much within your design, but give it a try...either way that's alot of airflow. Should be a chilly box.
 
Thanks alot anybody else got any suggestions to make the case its self look better?
 
Here are my humble suggestions ......

1] - position the HDD's so they are closer to an intake fan. Preferably in such a way so as not
to inhibit airflow too much.

2] - do away with any exhaust fans, especially on top. Better to have all fans blowing
in and let the air rise up & out some top "blow holes" naturally. No need to balence out
the airflow ratings that way. And you can still filter the incoming air if required.

As has been said before, more fans are not always better.

If it was me I would not use 120mm fans but larger units like this* instead. Two should be sufficient.
Put them both on a heavy duty 50w rheostat like this* to allow speed adjustments and control noise.

Looks like a fun project .... best of luck with it.
