Ok. I have been piecing together my newegg wishlist for the last 2 weeks. I am ready to order but cannot do so until I am comfortable with my choice on a case. It is hard for me to justify spending more than $200 on a case. I am looking for something sleek and silent. What are you thoughts on the Armor. Can I do better or should I just order it!??! :)

Hooking the drives to a SATA to IDE converter connected to an IDE to SATA converter to plug drives into the SATA ports on the MB. The ribbon cable would be connecting the converters.

One thing ... Vista 64 bit? dude .. that is just wrong. Your an enthusiast right? There is NO support for 64 bit computing ... period. Vista sux .. but making it 64bit is just dumb.

Other than that, looks to be kick ass ... on a budget :)

... and the mouse selection is something that could be changed. I think that is you are going to be putting some money into a mouse, you should go for it. A G5 or G7, Razer Copperhead, those are a few that I would go with.

I don't quite understand; what would be the point in that? It's just creating extra work and mess.
 
that's a great build. stick with vista, everyone in gonna upgrade to it sooner or later so you might as well save some money and get it now rather than xp and an upgrade later. 64-bit is fine too, nothing like xp 64 was. as for the mice, good choice i've always been a fan of logitech mice. might want to check out the new revision of the g5 since they added the second thumb button. oh and you might wanna shop around a bit for that creative fatality sound card, its had tendency to drop below $100 in the past couple months.

Airflow, Round cables are more aerodynamic and you dont have to do as much origami to make them look better.

just ignore me, its getting late, now I have reread the thread I got to ask the same quistion! lol
Now to the OPs quistion about cable length, most motherboards will come with SATA cables, yours doeas, it comes with 4 yellow ones, probably 12 inches in length. I have the Antec 900 and 12 inch SATA cables and I have no length problems at all. the way the motherboard sits in the case it puts the SATA ports on the motherboard more towards the center of the case, so no matter where you put your drives they should be long enough. I know they sell 18" SATA cable as well as some longer ones, not sure if theres any shorter than 12" however. The cables are somewhat flat for a reason, to seperate the in/out signals to reduce cross talk. I have seen some lighted cables ond some other "Custom cables at a few of the Mod sites online. But dont worry about the shape of the cable, the very little differance it will make will not be worth purchasing differant cables.
 
thats some good specs there bro, the Antec 900 your looking at isnt bad either. I would say stick with what you got here bro.
As for vista, vista 64bit is better in my view for a couple reasons (wont get into them, thats a whole other thread) and support may not be there now, but give it a little and things will work fine for 64 vista :)
 
What I don't care for is the Thermaltake case. I agree they look cool. But they don't really have good build quality. The aluminum tends to be just a tad on the flimsy side (the windowed side door ... feels like cardboard). And I hate the way those external connectors are located in the top of the case. What happens is that the cables get in the way on the inside. And the little door is TOO easy to break off. :eek:

I'm being more progressive with my build. And I'm waiting a few more weeks until I order the case, power supply, and fans. But I'm also going with the new CM Stacker 832. Now I don't normally like cases with doors, but the Stacker is different. There you can at least turn it around if you'd like. Besides I intend to try Cooler Master's Gemini II cooler, passive in this case with 4 quiet Scythe S-Flex (Fluid Dynamic bearings) 120mm fans in the side and a 5th exhaust fan up top. :D May not be "real quiet" but It should be cool.

That sounds like a good way to blast cool air across the whole motherboard; i like!
What PSU are you going to use with this case when you get it? 'Any idea of a Silverstone OP1000 would fit in there?
