Hey guys
Wow i'm starting a lot of threads lately. Sorry if this has been asked before but I'm just wondering if you have any advice on good cases around 150$NZ.. so 100$US ish? I'd like one with a window for looks and probably without a door because I've heard that just gets in the way of the front fans. I had my heart set on the NZXT alpha but now that I see that it's nigh on impossible to fit the front fan and when it is fitted there's no room for airflow, i'm not so set on it.

I'm in New Zealand so choices are fairly limited. I've been trolling through because that's a cheap local store to me. I kinda liked the look of the Raidmax X1 but I don't want the powersupply to come with it and I doubt they'd seperate at this store. BTW I'd have 1 optical drive and 2 3.5" bays to use up.

Thanks so much for any advice!

Do not buy any raidmax case... I've had 2 and they suck, big time...

Any other stores we can look at? That site is pretty dated...

How come they suck? Dam lol. Uh just look on newegg then and I'll see if I can find the equivalent in NZ. What sort of cases do you buy? I'll reply in the morning now lol thanks !

I'm thinking the coolmaster 690 now after the huge thread dedicated to it on [H]!

Think I'd agree with that. I hate making decisions. How come Raidmax ones are bad though??

Having to use 2 3.5" bays is going to limit you off the bat, but aside from that you're going to see many different views on what makes a better case on [H] because there's people who choose form over function (Lian Li), vice versa (cooler master), and everywhere in between.

The best case is going to be the one that you pick out :) . When I shop for a different case I always pay first only look at ones in my budget, then only look at pictures. At first pay no attention to reviews, if it has any, or how it's ranked. Things you want to look for are if cable management will be easy, hard, or impossible. If there are no decent sized holes near the PSU placement, it will be very difficult without making a hole yourself. Second thing, although just as important, is trying to imagine the airflow through the case. This is why cooler master sells so many cases, they put A LOT of holes in them :) .
After you have 5-6 picked out, it should be easier for you to determine which one you want. Based on price, availability, and finally read through the reviews and make sure there are no issues with the case that would totally turn you off from it.

my 2c.

Thanks for the advice. Think i'm going for the 690 with a corsair HX520

I prefer the Antec 900 case. It runs very cool and is a mid tower with a moderate amount of room. It also provides nine 5.25 bays. I don't see it for sale in your NZ link though.

That's only for sale at www.dragonpc.co.nz I think. It's far outta my budget though. Not sure if I should go for the corsair hx520 or the 500w Enermax Liberty ELT500AWT. Gonna compare rails etc when I get home from uni.
