Following up on the pics I threw in Rage's thread, somehow I got photographing insects today again. I'm pretty sure my next lense is gonna be the 100 Macro, but until then I'm having fun with the Tamron 28-75s limited macro capabilities.

Essentially, during the wedding I was at today, an enterprising yellow jacket attacked a piece of my leftover chicken. It made over a DOZEN sorties onto this meat, used its mandibles to SLICE off a piece, picked them up like a helicopter, and flew off, presumably to the nest. My brother in law killed a dozen yellow jackets but I wouldnt let him kill this one, it was SMART! =)

As a colorblind amateur photographer, one of the things I'm struggling with is getting consistant color casts. You'll notice these all are in the same 3 foot area yet my colors are widely varying despite individually looking 'right' when editing em down in RSP. Any advice on that area given my condition is appreciated.

With out having seen these things in real life it's a bit hard to say but here is my input anyway :p

These ones seem a bit blue shifted

This one looks a bit better to me

As for the little smiles: Smiles 2 differs from the others as it is both redder and more detailed. Not sure what the ground looks like so can't say if it is a red shift on it or if the others are off.

Mean little fellows, huh? I've watched (and filmed) them hunt, kill and shread just about everything. When we are camping, they will go after your breakfast while you're eating it!

As for your colour cast, get out of Auto White Balance. If you're using flash, set the WB for that. Another thing you can do is to shoot RAW and you can easily fine tune then apply that setting to all photos taken in that same light.
