Is there any difference say between a 6800GT from japan and australia?

power ratings etc?
 
nope.

Most of cards in the US/europe etc are manufacturered in Asia (malaysia/taiwan/china). They all work here fine. Internally computer guys go according to ISO specs. externally its upto ur PSU.
 
The only difference might be the tv-out, it might default to that countries standard, or it maygo according to your region settings. Either way it wont make a difference in the actual usability.
 
oh yeah i forgot that. u might wanto chk NTSC or PAL support in ur region and buy card that supports ur version.
 
Doesn't it also affect the components? Like why bother paying import taxes when there's a capacitor/DDRmemory factory just over in the next city?

What are the factors that affect where they get their components from? I thought they use whatever decent component manufacturer is available locally or import from the closest decent one to cut down on cost.
 
its just hardware in australia is a fucken rip off and i am going to japan early next year.

so if i can pick up a nice card cheapa cheapa it would be good ;)
