Ok, I've got the Asus A8V Deluxe motherboard and I just pulled my card readr out of my old computer and want to put it in my new computer. However, I dunno how to hook it up or where it goes on the motherboard.

Could someone possibly help me figure this out? Thanks.

Sorry, that's the best pic I could take. My digicam sucks. The damn battery is on charge all the time and yet, it's always dead. I need to have my camera repaired.
 
I'm pretty sure it goes onto the extra USB port connectors on your motherboard. You'll have to look on your motherboard diagram... There should be something labelled "USB1" or something. It should fit right on there.
 
Thanks, I'll take a look. I'm a little weary of it because there is a warning in the manual about damaging the mobo if you connect the wrong thing to it.

I looked, there is no way to connect it. The card reader I have has a 5 pin connector. The USB connectors on the motherboard are 10-1.
 
It'll work. =]
Just plug it in across the row of five pins, with the green wire to the left.
(you could actually connect it to the row of fours pins if you wanted, as the extra ground isn't needed.)
 
I don't think it'll work because the missing pin is in an odd location. I'll try to take another pic of just the cable.
 
From my peronsal experience... When I have problem like this I just trust people who know what they're talking about. I usually just go ahead and do it. I haven't damaged anything through that approach. If I were you I'd just try it out. Haha... I take no responsbility in the extremely unlikely case where anything does fry though. :p
 
Oh no, I do belive him. But what I'm saying is that the cable for the card reader is set up like this:

Pin,Pin, No Pin, Pin, Pin, Pin.

And the plug on the mother board is like this:

Pin, Pin, Pin, Pin, No Pin
Pin, Pin, Pin, Pin, Pin.

I don't know if that makes any sense I'm sure it would work but I've got a different cable than what is on the motherboard.
