Ok so after seeing the 7800gtx I was about ready to jump onto the ati bandwagon when the r520 got out, now I see it is the same length. What makes them need to increase the PCB size!? I have to place hard drives around my 6800gt or the power cables cannot fit in. I mean really how does it help? Ati has had all high end cards in recent memory on nice short cards, why the sudden size jump?

I think power is the big thing...chip sizes continually decrease...but the amount of power they draw keeps going up...so the circuitry to manage power on the cards keeps getting more complex...

The X1800XT is about the same length as the 7800GTX, but the X1800XL and lower cards are the standard smaller size that ATi has been using for years.

I remember opening my first 6800nu...
It was like opening a box to a boardgame. I was thinking to myself that they should have folded it to make it more compact like a boardgame... I was wondering where the dice where and how I would plot against my friends as Col. Mustard. hahahahahaha..
