capture video from mini dv tape via firewire

Ok so it took me some time but I found a firewire card on amazon for $15 - PCIe 1x and it works in win10.

I have a ton of family tapes that are mini dv and I want to bring them on my PC.
I have adobe premiere and it can control the camera and copy the tape BUT...

1. scene detection wont work as it says time stamps not enabled
2. I cant figure out easily how to break video up in to segments after I brought a tape in

so question...
Would you use Adobe Premiere? or another software?
let me know! appreciate it

Got a link to that card and what camera are you using?

Just capture the entire tape and cut it up in Premiere.

So used premiere to bring tape in.
Used razor to cut video.
Then realized drag cut clips to new item in bin then you have it there. Then right click clip and export


But i think i can also choose full video and do export. Move markers then choose export in and out markers. Will try tomorrow
