can't run fdisk?

partioned the HD and reformated it, installed windows 98.

made 2 partions, only one is showing up in windows, the C: partion. restarted and tried running fdisk in dos to see if i did something wrong... now i can't run fdisk, i get the "error reading fixed disk" messeage. looked in the bios for something odd, didn't see anything.

put the HD in my other PC and same deal.

I was having problems with corrupted and missing files before I did any of this.

this is a 40 gig HD and at the moment i'm only able to use 10 gigs of it :(

If thats the case I would think your disk is dieing.
Try downloading a hard drive checker from your hard drive makers homepage.
That will tell you if you have bad sectors, etc, etc.
If so get a new one.

heh... i'm to much of a newb to know what that is...

did manage to get back in and make some partions, BUT after i installed windows rebooted once or twice, i never saw the windows start-up logo again. Ran into missing files again. ran scandisk and I had to fix many a file. went from corupted and missing parts of the files. still doesn't boot anymore :(

does it look like this 3 year old Fujitsu HD may become a paperweight.
