Can't install X-FI drivers

I just did a fresh install of XP Pro, and when I installed the X-FI drivers and tried to open the audio console after, it said that the device is not recognized. So I tried uninstalling and reinstalling using windows update. It won't even install at all. It starts and then says there was a failure to install because of incorrect data or something like that.

I know it's not the card itself, as I tried it out when I booted into my Vista drive, and it works flawlessly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I was going to say that it could be a BIOS setting. I had to disable my integrated audio through the BIOS so there would be no conflicts. But since it works on Vista, it looks like it could be a driver problem.

Did you follow the proper procedure for installing the audio drivers? Make sure to uninstall any integrated audio drivers and use Driver Cleaner Pro to clean the registry of any left over keys that could conflict with the new drivers.

I'd just check your BIOS and disable the integrated audio. If that doesn't work, look for any driver conflicts. If you don't find any conflicts, uninstall the X-Fi Drivers and reinstall them and see what happens. You could have just had a bad install.

Thanks for the reply. I tried all that and still nothing worked, so I just re-reinstalled XP and presto... No problems.
