I'm about to throw this computer out the window. A couple of days ago I decided to upgrade from Cat 7.4 to 7.8.....oops. I uninstalled the drivers restarted and tried to install w/no luck. I hangs at the "detecting hardware" stage. If I try from safe mode the same happens but I also get a message that the installer can't install a hardware detection driver (something like that).

I've tried all installers from 7.4 (which worked before) to 7.8 with the same result. I then downloaded and used DriverCleaner and that didn't help. I even tried to manually install the drivers but Windows (Vista) told me that I already had the best drivers installed.

I'm screwed, can anyone offer any tips or ideas?

Thanks!
