i have the system below in my sig.

now, for some reason, when i had my 680i, i popped the FSB to 400FSB, and changed no voltages, and BAM, 3.6ghz.

with this, its not so simple. i don't know why.

first problem i have is Biostar's BIOS settings are a pain in the butt. you can't set a specific Vcore, you have to "add" Voltage on top of the stock Vcore.

I've tried a 450 FSB with an 8x multi, and 1.3 on the CPU, not stable. I tried adding .5 Volts to both the FSB and North bridge (at the same time), still not stable.

i'm no noob to this stuff, but i just can't seem to get it.

oh, and I tested my RAM. I was able to get to 1080mhz on 2.0 Volts, Prime95 Blend stable for 2 or 3 hours, so that is not an issue.
 
Ill be honest. I hated that board. The vNB and vSB are linked. The steps in VCC and VTT are huge. There is no way to fine tune your GTLs. This makes fine tuning clocks almost impossible. You might want to start with a 1.28 or even 1.30 NBv and bump that down later if you can. I only had the board for less than a week, but you might want to move your VTT a little closer to your VCC and set your PLL to 1.54 or 1.56. Also just for testing disable. The memory enhancment features, they work for some people but allways caused stability issues for me. Keep in mind this board like most intel chipsets will not run your ram with as tight of timings as your 680i would, but you should get some more mhz. Try your ram at 5-5-5-15 with a trfc of 55. Worse comes to worse Ket over at XS has been modding the bios on this board which hasen't seen an update since July. There is also a very large thread over there about this board with some good info.
 
well i went in the bios, and i cahanged the MCH GTL Reference to .59V, and i upped EVERYTHING to +.25 to avoid any problems using the "auto" settings. that seems to have done it, and 3.6ghz is working now. I'm gunna try 4ghz later this week, or over the weekend.
 
Just watch out at around 1.4 vNB, you shouldn't need it for 2 dimms and less than a 500mhz fsb, the northbridge starts getting warm and needs some active cooling at that point.
