Well, I need a new comp (old comp died, currently on a basically unusable 500mhz 96mb ram celery).

The problem is, with the lack of pci-e and DDR2 on socket939, going s939 now will be a deadend. And 754 is obviously a dead-end. I need a new video card now, so going with either of these will involve the purchase of 2 video cards over a relatively short period of time, and when pci-e becomes more mainstream around christmas time, the value of agp cards will drastically decrease, so I don't really want to buy an agp card now.

However, I'm an AMD fanboy, so I dunno what to do? I mean, I can hold out for a little while (another month to a month and a half), but after that I'm going to need to make a purchase. I'm almost thinking of getting an LGA775 setup, just so I'll have a pci-e card/slot for now, and it will be easier to upgrade later?

fix up your own comp, stick with it until the new stuff comes out.... then blow your money all over it
 
fixing my comp probably means replacing more than half of it anyways. I'm NOT 100% sure that it's just psu/mobo, and I'll be pissed if I replace mobo and something else is broken too, so :(

Not like my old computer that broke is very much respectable either :(
