Can't enable crossfire

I got my two 6950's, and everything is hooked up including the crossfire bridge. I don't see any option in CCC to enable crossfire. I also can't find any bios page for my motherboard. (I'll be getting a new one soon, but want to get it working now)
 
if you've already done the driver uninstall and safemode driversweeper/drivercleaner stuff...

some people have had success putting card 1 in slot 1, installing drivers.
putting card 2 in slot 2, installing drivers again (i know, redundant)
and then it just works.

or card 1 slot 1 drivers
pull card 1 out
card 2 slot 2 drivers
put card 1 back

come to think of it, you should still see the option (or at least the TAB) in CCC for crossfire (under Gaming, or Performance or something), even if you arent capable of enabling it...

did you upgrade straight to dual 6950s? or did you have 1 and added 1?
 
Had 1 added 1. Already had drivers installed, installed new card which installed more drivers. I tried uninstalling the drivers, then reinstalling, still nothing. I don't see anything about crossfire.

I'm thinking it's my motherboard, since GPU-Z reports one is working at x1 speed. I just can't find any links to bios's.
 
sounds like a bios pcie link speed option

but otherwise... i had some crossfire issues today with changing a card from slot 2 to slot 3, adding a extended crossfire bridge, and re-enabling crossfire ... wouldnt boot, when it did boot the link was at 4x, got it to 8x , and then got BSODS... so i ended up putting the card back to slot 2

and as i was digging around for hours... read some pretty bad stories that people only fixed their CF setups by reformatting.

I checked my motherboard manual and it has some weird way of enabling crossfire. Instead of using a bridge it has instructions on using some dvi to dvi cable to connect between the two. Right now though I'll see what I can do in the bios.
 
dvi to dvi? Wow, your motherboard goes back to the x850xt days when crossfire required an external cable.

Good luck though I think you may be out of luck with that old motherboard.
 
I tried running crossfire with 6xxx series cards on a q6600 system with pci express 1.0 16x/4x slots. it was slower in most games than just using a single card, and the stuttering was ridiculous. Pci express 1.0 has half the bandwidth of 2.0.

I suspect even if the op gets his setup to work, it's a waste of time. Hardware that old can't feed newer cards enough data even when it works.

Well I'm getting an Intel DP67BG with an i5 2300. It has 8x/8x slots. That should be good enough I believe. For now I'm using the cards for mining.
