Can't create network connections!

I want to add my htpc to my network.

I had trouble installing Marvell Yukon drivers the traditional way off of a downloaded .exe. I kept getting runtime error 1617. I finally got the system to recognize the the controller by doing the "update driver" section of the device manager with the bare drivers.

But when I try to set up a connection in my network connections, it keeps saying "cannot create connection,service is not running." After going through the whole internet setup wizard for broadband etc., It says I should be connected.

But theres no connections in network connections. (I.E. no Local Area Network 2 ,1394).

How can I create a connection to the network and the internet?
