i added a second hard drive to my system, put some important files on it, then disconnected it from my system. I just connected it again, but every time I try to access it windows says this drive is not formated, would you like to format it now? i know the files must be still on there how do i get them back someone pls help me.:(

you may want to look into GetDataBack from www.runtime.org
and no, I am not sponsored by them, but it has worked well for me and other members of this forum in the past. If you prefer, there are other `data recovery' softwares out there.

well i went ahead and "purchased" Stellar phoenix, and all now is well.

silly for thinking everything works like USB! although can someoine explain to me why this happened? i mean when i disconnect hard drive with an OS on it and recconnect it it works just fine.

maybe you can go into more detail on how you disconnected the drive? Was the PC running? What interface does the drive use?

its regular IDE, and no i turned PC off before disconnecting it.

That beats me. Did you only disconnect the IDE cable, or the Power cable as well. Honestly, it should work like that:
Shutdown, disconnect.
and
Shutdown, reconnect.

IDE isn't designed to be hot-swapped. Sata is, but you need to notify the OS that you've removed a device so it doesn't try to access it and get confused.
