thinking about getting this camera for my dad for christmas. its small and has a high picture quality, though no zoom other than digital. any opinions or does anyone have this camera? maybe suggest a better one for around the same price (319.50 off newegg)?
 
Unless having an ultra-compact form factor is the main thing you're looking for, I couldn't recommend that camera. There are plenty of other cameras around that price that are slightly larger but have far more features. It's a bit more expensive, but the Olympus C-765 UZ is the kind of thing I'm talking about. It doesn't come in different colors, but it's a lot more versatile than the SD20. Another popular one around here is the Canon A95. It's closer to your price, I think. Check out some samples.
 
the ultra compacts arent known for having high picture quality. Get him an A85 or similar camera from canon instead.
 
i think the SD20 is just TOO small, i'm afraid i'd put it down somewhere and never find it again. seriously, something that small could easily slip out of a pocket and end up inside a couch somehwere, or god forbid, my wife would put it inside her purse and it would never be found again ;)
