I'm in the process of building my first computer, and there are cables everywhere! What do I do with the loose cables inside the case? Do I duct tape them to the side or something?
 
zip ties and electrical tape are your friend. :D Bundle your loose wires together and stuff them inside empty drive bays. Thats what I did.

I find duck tape, zip ties, zip tie mounts and a dremel the best tools for Wire management.

Step one: Find the most efficient means of using the least cables when giving all you devices power.

Step two: Take all of those unused cables and put them behind the motherboard backplate. That means unscrewing that other side panel and tucking them behind that.

Step three: Tie all of those unused cables together and duck tape them to that back panel so they dont move and stay in place.

Step four: With all of the used power cables, route them throughout the case, where they are out of the way of airflow, dangling in the middle of no where, etc. This is where zipties come in. For the big 24pin cable, I find using a zip tie mount the best way as that cable is thick and definetely gets in the way.

That shows what I mean by using that ziptie mount. It sticks to the case and you tie a zip tie to it. Use it for that big cable. Just route it along the edges of the motherboard. Thats what I find best. Its really hard to just hide the thing.

Fasten the other power cables to the drive bays, rails that make up the frame of the case and etc with the zipties. I find using the duct tape pretty useful to, it just sometimes comes loose, and is noticable for the most part.

I mentioned the dremel, because some case's are a pain to route cables through. My case the Thermatake Swing is a good example. I used a dremel to make my own holes so I can route the cables to all my fans better so they arnt in the way of anything.

also, putting your hd(s) in backwards really helps.
