Cable management grommets?

Has anyone found a place from which we can buy the rubber cable management grommets that we are seeing on so many cases these days (like the newer corsair cases)?

It would just add so much more to my case mods than just putting a rubber border around the cable management holes that I have dremeled out.

Your local home improvement store should have what you are looking for (Home Depot, ACE, Lowes, etc).
When all else fails, call the nearest Grainger Industrial Supply.
Went to my local branch and I just bought 100 foot of black tinted 1/2ID 5/8OD flexible PVC industrial grade for $28.
If I bought that much primochill it'd cost me $250 or so.

I made my own grommets. I went to McMaster and ordered adhesive backed rubber sheets. You'll need to double up so I recommend getting 1/32" thick ones. I got 1/16" and it's a bit too thick when doubled up.

That actually sounds like a decent idea. At the very least it would let me make my own sizes. I don't suppose you documented the process of that you have some photos of how they turned out?

I didn't really document the process but it's pretty easy. I also recommend getting a low durometer (below 50) rubber so it's soft and flexible.

1) Acquire rubber sheets
2) Buff sheets with hydrogen peroxide to get an even and clean rubber look (the sheets have grainy white streaks on them). DO NOT use isopropyl on them as it will make the streaks worse
3) Trace hole on rubber sheet.
4) Cut out hole traced on sheet.
5) Cut out a square larger than the hole.
6) Remove backing on larger square piece and attach it to the backside of the mobo tray so that the sticky side is covering the cable hole.
7) Remove backing on traced out sheet and place it in the hole.
8) Use a razor/exacto/ect to cut slashes in the rubber so you can pass cables.

Here's a pic I have of the inside of my case. The rubber grommets are where the ATX24 pin come out and the PCI-E power cables.

Home depot sells every grommet imaginable in their hardware section (for grommets up to about 1/2" in diameter) and their electrical section (for grommets up to about 1.5" in diameter). Check both.

I've used door edge trim from autozone before for side panel window trim. It would work well for grommets as well. Just warm it up a little to get it flexible enough for tight bends.

Yeah, I already have some edge trim.

What I was really looking for is just an insert that looks like the ones that Corsair and Cooler Master have been using:


It's starting to seem like I could use a combination of edge trim and rubber sheets to make what I'm looking for. The problem with edge trim is that you end up with a break where the ends meet.

You need a punch for your rubber sheets. Not too hard to do, just requires extra work when forming the punch (metal cutting, making a die, etc). However, when you're done you can manufacture them for sale or make custom rubber grommets. Talk about the niche of the niche of the niche market my friend
