Okay, I just built this system and once in a while I can hear a fairly quiet buzzing sound coming from something. It's completely random when it happens and I can't seem to find out what it is. I'm thinking it could either be the HDD doing something (but what) or the fan on the video card has begun to spin (if it isnt spinning all the time)

do you have any temp-controlled fans? you could be hearing it spinning when its hot enough, and obviously not spinning when its not hot enough. might be the vid card as well...

no, I don't have any temperature controlled fans(standalone)... but I think that my fans are controlled thermally by the PSU, so maybe its one of them?

could be. keep the side of your comp off and when the buzzing starts see whats moving, when it stops see whats not moving anymore.

well, this is what I have determined so far (w/o opening the side of my case yet because its in a camped spot for me to be in) I think its the HDD doing something, because I can stop the noise by loading something (for example IE) and when I do the noise will just stop dead. What would the hard drive be doing that wouldn't have anything to do with the system using it? Because when its doing it the HDD light on the front doesnt come on or anything.

And like I said before I can only hear this noise when everything else in my room is dead silent and the door is shut. So its not very loud at all, I'm just curious if there is somethign wrong with my HDD or not. (or maybe thats something to ask in the stoage forum?)
