Our office cable modem (we have Rogers portable, this modem) just died. Went through the diagnostics and all, it's fizzed.

We are about to get a new one and are wondering if we should buy one from Rogers, rent or buy one elsewhere?

Appreciate any help, thanks.

It's up to you, 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

You can purchase them quite affordably, I've purchased several via ebay, still brand new shrink wrapped in the box..usually from 55 - 70 bucks. I like having backups, never had one fail on me, but just in case...within minutes I'll swap it out, get on the phone with my ISP and have them provision the replacement modem. Being back online within minutes is important to me.

Compare that cost to what your ISP charges you monthly. Although if you lease from your ISP, if you modem fails....after several DAYS of working with support they'll send a guy out with a replacement for you usually at no added cost.
