I'm building a system and request your comments and suggestions. The system will be for work and not for much play, if any at all. So, I want work/processing related performance and not so much for gaming. I'm also looking for the ability to upgrade later. Here is what I have so far. Tell me what you think. Also, I don't know which board would be best so I haven't listed one.

Pentium 4/2.4c 800MHz FSB, 512k Cache, Hyper Threading
Western Digital 120GB 7200RPM Model WD1200JB
ATI Radeon 9100 Vidoe Card, 128MB
Creative Audigy ES PCI Sound Card, Model SB0162
Corsair 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC 3200
Other misc drives

I also have not yet chosen a case.

Thanks.

get 2 sticks of memory, so you can work dual channel properly

get atleast a 9200 on the VC

if it's for work, probably just go with onboard sound and save money, unless you want a 5.1 setup

Hmmm... looks good. Giving me ideas for my system upgrade. Maybe a better video card, but it depends on your budget. What is the budget (if you have one, and wish to tell us). You don't have to dual channel, as performance in games doesn't really increase that much (that i've seen anyway). The Audigy is a damn good sound card, too.

wow..... ummm.....
the 9100 is a better card than the 9200.
the board comes WITH 5.1 onboard.

Thanks for the info gents. I'm trying to keep it around $800. I'm building it for someone else. I still don't know which board to use. Suggestions? This is my first build. Does everything look compatable?

Thanks
