simple question.

if I wanted to make a custom multi system enclosure for several mini itx boards, could .25 or .5 thick Polypropylene sheet work as the base, assuming it will be supporting the MB entirely ( i.e. it wont have anything under it ).

if not could you all recommend something cheap ?

some thing I spend money on, this I want super cheap. I want to build a cheap layout for a beowulf cluster which I can expand over time by adding additional layers.

the design will be simple. one sheet will hold 2-4 MB's with a section for psu's. when I want to expand I will add risers and another 2-4 MB sheet. I will make it structurally sound but want a cheap plastic or metal base to work with.

you think Polypropylene is the way to go or should I look elsewhere?
