I am putting my new system together this week and need some advice on the best way to setup my drives. I bought a M4 64GB ssd which I know is not going to fit all of my games and what not on it so I will be putting those on a second drive. I am going to pick up a 1TB WD Black I think. I remember reading an article about creating a 300GB partition on a TB drive and for speed, which I am planing on doing. Is there anything else that I should do?

if you have a Z68 chipset. use the 1TB as your main, and the 64GB ssd as a cache.

otherwise, use your 64GB as boot, and install everything to your 1TB

not sure what you mean by this "creating a 300GB partition on a TB drive and for speed"
