ok im about to move out into a house near campus. im finishing up my freshman year of college and am looking for a computer.

i had a watercooled AMD and i hated it. watercooling system broke. i dont like amd yada yada.

id like some opinions on budget parts

i need. fast CPU 3.0gig+ alot of HD space atleast 80GB, and atleast 1Gig ram.
pref intel p4

from there i dont really have a budget, but i dont want to buy anything ecessive. id like to keep it around 700 (no monitor included) could do up to 1200for the set
id like a graphics card
no watercooling

please throw out some brands or ideas on what u would do in my situation

you shoulda got a dell the other week. they were $750 off $1499 desktops with free flat panel and optical drive. keep an eye out in the hot deals forum and see if the coupon comes back.

damn i know. i should have i just didnt have that much space on my credit card at the time. believe me im kicking myself in the butt.

What does the college sell on campus? usually they can get you a deal on something...that way if it takes a shit on you, you take it back to the computer store on campus...

I know it's a suck ass way to get a new machine but they usually will cover any problems with it right there on campus.
