well, i have heard of people putting their computers outside during the winter (cold) season to keep their pc's nice and frosty, sounded like it would work...you know...except the bugs...and other things that could get in from outside...so, what i wanted to do was channel the outside freezing cold air inside the computer case...SO-what i did was use foil ducting that is just about the same size as my side intake fan to channel the air in. to make sure bugs wouldnt get sucked in (and get guts all over the place), i placed the front of the ducting parallel with the screen in the window, and shut the window just enough to where it would hold the ducting into place. then i taped the other side of the ducting to the side intake fan on the case. i checked the temps and they were droppin' like crazy! before i had to quit i got an 18 degree temp drop, and it wasnt stopping there. but i decided to give up and call it a day. why, you might ask? well, it was just starting to get too damn cold for me! :D but a feeling of triumph came over me as i thought about the temp drop that had just occured! im thinking about cutting a hole in my wall just big enough for the duct to fit through, and use the back fan on the case as an intake fan, and change the front and side to exhaust...hmmm...project ahead..well, wish me luck, hope i dont f*ck up my wall too much! :D

pics here!

I've done that before. it works really well if you live in Indiana druing January! I did it under 8F conditions and my old comp was running about 25C!!!!! I stoped during the night though cause I figured too cold of air could mess up my system (frost).

yeah, it gets pretty frosty around here in lancaster, ca! i think this would be a pretty good solution to keep the system cool, because it doesnt get to the point where the computer could get hurt. :)
