I just got my maxline III in. Now can I just plug it up and install windows or do I have to format the drive first?

Edit:

Ok now I got that finally figured out. Now I go through the set up, picking up drivers and then I pick the HD I want to put windows on. It does its little thing and says setup will continue when it restarts.

Now the problem is every time it does that it boots back up and can only go through the same thing again. Now what? I messed a little with the boot order and that does nothing.

Yes, you can just plug the drive in and install windows.

If you want to format/partition, go to Maxtor's website and download the Maxtor Tools.

Did you take the CD out? If you don't, it'll boot from it again.

ONLY DO IT ONCE after it says restarting in 15 seconds, DO NOT PRESS ANYTHING until the windows setup starts. u will see the same press any button to boot from cd, BUT DO NOT press a button again ok?

There may still potentially be a problem with your boot order. You said you messed around a little with it. What did you change, and what effect, if any, did those changes have?

Also, is your drive SATA or PATA?

I took the cd out and tried different boot orders. Same issue. I finally restore defaults and now it works. :D
