Hi guys,
I'm a newbie and thus my computer expertise is very limited.
With that being said, I'd be forever in debt if someone could answer my tech problems, if possible. I'll make this really quick and simplistic as not to waste your guys time (too much :p )
So I bought a WD SATA 16mb 7200rpm 500GB HD thinking once I got it home I'd get it installed in a jiffy. However, to my surprise it didn't come with a sata cable. There's another cable which I can't remember off the top of my head what its called, but I had an extra one of those dangling from inside my tower. (is multicolored and plug is wider)
From my understanding I need a S-ata cable to complete the physical installation process.
(plz correct me if i'm wrong)
I ordered this: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=14480&vpn=RC-SATA-RIT18&manufacture=Others

Will this solve my technical woes or am I just making things worse :(

Thanks

If you have a SATA-compatible motherboard, you can easily set up that new WD hard drive by plugging in one end into the sata port on the motherboard and the other end into the hard drive. The wider plug that you referred to was probably an IDE cable.

Do you have the correct power plug? A 4-pin molex will not work with SATA power.
