I was curious if there were any changes in the latest model (companion 2 series iii). I was wondering if they corrected anything from the last edition or just wanted a fresh new look. Thanks in advance for your response.

*also at $99 would I be better off spending another $50 and getting av 40's?*

Bose stands for Buy Other Sound Equipment. Get AV30s, or AV40s if possible.

Thanks for the replies. I assumed that there were only cosmetic changes done to the series.
 
I am not super fond of bose myself and I realize people seem to enjoy slaggin' on anything bose.

additionally not sure what changes in the series iii vs previous model

however I can say if i had to use $100~ computer speakers the bose would be far from my last choice... I have listened to these a few times... wanted very much to hate them but while not amazing not at all bad I thought.. and the size is quite desk friendly... honestly I think they are a pretty solid offering.

But have you listened to AV30s? They sound a lot better then any Bose speaker set in the price range.
 
I have to agree with atarione on this one people love to hate bose. Why not? They have been selling 200 dollar surround sounds for 1000+ and making everyone you know who knows nothing tell you about how good bose is. But they do have a few things that are pretty decent. and the companion 2's are pretty decent.

There wont be much of a difference in SQ between the two. And at least the bose speakers look good. The AV series are kinda ugly.

But f you are willing to spend the 150 for the 40's they are a step up in sound quality. Just be wary of the amp issue. That and the looks.

And any day of the week amp and bookshelf speakers.
