Hey

I just got a second drive yesterday. It is a western digital 250 gig sata 1 hard drive, and i placed it my compter and plug the right conntections to it. and i tried booting up. but windows didnt dectect it. While it was shown when i was booting up. So i placed a jumper for the 150mb/s My main hd was set teh same way i belvie from when itook it in to get it built. But now after trying out the jumper stuff, iget a message when i boot up saying "reboot and select proper boot device or inset boot media in seletected boot devices and press a key"


How can i go about fixing this?
 
On boot up, go into the BIOS and select you main hard drive as the only boot device.

Once you get into windows, you need to go here:
Control Panel > Administrative Tool > Computer managment > Disk Managment

Now on the right side of the Disk managment wind is a list of the drives that it sees. Right click on the new drive and select format

This should get you runnig again. Hope that this helps,

grrr not having any luck lol, my pc still wont boot up to windows. I tried setting up my hard drives in the just a bunch of disks raid, the one for storage, since thats why i wanted a second harddrive for. andi i tired makign a sata boot up floppy for teh windows install, but when ever i try the windowsxp cd, it wont deect my hard drives. even when i load the drive off from the floppy. What can i do???
 
Make sure you've got the right driver - many boards need different drivers for raid and non-raid usage, and often there are two chipsets onboard, so you need to make sure you're getting the right one.

 
well I went to a frines plave and we tried it and he couldtn get it going and we tried messing aorund with the bios and even used a coupel of things from western digitals site. ANd we tried stickign my hard drives in his and they were dected throug ht steps that were mentioend earlier. And we were even able to format the new one and copy some files to it. But when we juust try the sata drives alone in his pc, back in my pc, windows didnt reconixe the hard dives and it alwasy askes for proper boot media
