Not sure if this is a mobo issue, or a WinXP issue, but maybe somebody can help me.
XP will not load by itself from the hard drive, and I have to have the XP disk in the cd drive with the BIOS set to read the cd as a boot device first. It goes through the normal routine, asks if I want to boot from cd, I let it run without and then it will load from the hard drive. But if I switch to hdd load first, it won't load.
Specs
EPoX 8RDA3+ Mobo Rev 2.1
WD 80Gig SE
Lite-On 52X32X52 CD/RW
GF FX5200
2x 512Mb DDR Geil Value
AMD Barton 2500+ OC'd to 2.2g
Win XP Home (Not activated yet, but will be if this problem is fixable)
Is it because XP isn't activated yet? Because then no problem, I'll just activate it. I just don't want to use an OS that requires the disk in the drive to load, if I did I'd run Knoppix.
Also, for those of you with this board, is there a way to shut off the SATA/RAID to speed up boot times? It takes about 3 times longer to boot than it did with my 8RDA+.
Thanks guys.
