boosting my wireless connection...

So I have cable internet, with a modem and a router in my room.
My comp is wired to the router, and so is my 1st roommate's comp.
My 2nd roommate tho, who lives in the basement, connects through the internet wirelessly. And his signal is very weak. He does have a router himself (which supports wireless).

Can I somehow use the 2nd wireless router to "boost" my wireless connection? if yes, how pls?

Can you find out the model number of the router, you may be able to flash it with some open source firmware to use it as a wireless repeater.
